Concert Program - 02.24.12 PROGRAM TBA GCGS Home Page	Richard Todd and John Huston began performing together in the Summer of 2009 and since then have presented numerous concerts throughout the United States and in Italy. Hailed as a duo of "considerable energy and impressive virtuosity" (Fort Worth Star -Telegram), Soundboard magazine described their live performance as "stunning" and praised them for their "elegant finesse and captivating energy." In 2011, they released their debut recording, Pura Vida: Music of Latin America for Two Guitars, on the Soundset label. John and Richard were both accomplished soloists when they began collaborating. The combination of their markedly different styles has resulted in vital, energetic performances of both ancient and contemporary music. They have been invited to perform for numerous festivals and concert series including the Guitar on the Mediterranean Festival in Cervo, Italy, the Austin Peay State University Summer Guitar Workshop and Competition, the Fort Worth Guitar Guild Music Festival and the University of Louisville Guitar Festival and Competition. Atlanta guitarist John Huston has distinguished himself as one of the most exciting and expressive guitarists of his generation. John won First Prize in the 2001 Aranjuez Strings International Guitar Competition, among numerous others. In addition to solo performances throughout North America, he has performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Opera, Bent Frequency, the DeKalb Symphony Orchestra, the Athens Chamber Singers. Richard Todd is based in Nashville where he teaches at Tennessee State University, and directs the annual Classical Guitar Seminar. A frequent guest at guitar festivals, he is on the faculty this summer at the Festival Mediterraneo della Chitarra in Cervo, Italy. Richard earned a number of awards in his formative years, including First Prize in both the Music Teachers’ National Association Competition and the National Federation of Music Clubs Competition. He maintains an active performance career, having performed throughout the U.S., Canada, Italy and Slovenia.
